Also, great blog. Certainly like the fire from Smith, but I could see how it could get a bit distracting, and could possibly bite him in the ass at the wrong time.
Do you think Smith will be re-signed? And what's your take on the pricey long-term contract he's apparently seeking? |

No better options out there, Backstrom isn't going to sign here he'll get a big money retirement deal and he's the only guy on the market better. Chad Johnson and Labs are backups at best and Visentin/Lee/Domingue the top-3 goalie prospects are still a few years away.
Unless they make a trade for a goalie that's better than Smith, I don't see how they can't sign him. Anything over 3 years though and I think it would be a mistake. I really hate long deals on goalies since even the best in the world have ups and downs. |
